Retention Treatment
RETENTION TREATMENT AFTER FIXED BRACES
The procedures to be done to maintain the existing correction after orthodontic treatment are at least as important as the treatment itself.
After the applied treatment, thin wires are attached to the back surfaces of the lower and upper front teeth to prevent teeth from returning to their initial positions. These wires do not bother the person and are not noticeable from the outside.
These wires are also called fixed retainer wires. Additionally, removable retention devices are prepared according to the final state of the treatment.
ABOUT RETENTION TREATMENT
After fixed braces treatment is completed, retention treatment is applied to maintain the new positions of the teeth. In this process, patients are usually recommended clear retainers or fixed retainer wires.
Retention treatment guarantees a permanent and healthy smile by preventing teeth from returning to their old positions. Although the duration of use varies by patient, it is generally recommended to wear them continuously in the first months and then at night.
Regular use and doctor check-ups are the most important factors that increase the success of treatment.
For a healthy smile, don't skip your daily care routines and have regular dental check-ups.
